The Scotland's War Project has its origins in Edinburgh's War 1914-1919, a University of Edinburgh funded initiative which ran from 2008-20014. The content from Edinburgh's War has now been integrated into this website.

Such was the success of the web project that requests came from around the country to extend the Edinburgh and Lothians project to much further afield. With support from the University of Edinburgh and the National Lottery Fund,  Scotland's War was created.

The Project enjoys partnerships throughout the country. Furthermore, the Scottish diaspora community has contributed to the expansion and success of the new initiative.

Within this website, over the next four years, our aspirations are to build up a picture of the contributions and sacrifices that were made by the people of Scotland and the Scottish diaspora community during  WW1. This can only be achieved by collecting  documents of the time, photographs, letters, diaries and oral histories.

The Scotland's War Project welcomes contributions from the public, institutions and organisations on any information relating to Scotland and the Scots in WW1 and its aftermath.
