A striking memorial to Oban's fallen
Oban war memorial unveiled on 11th November 1923 stands at the end of the Corran Esplanade

Argyll and Bute has over 70 Civic memorials, some in stunning locations overlooking the sea. These remind us of both the protection the sea gave us but also of our isolation and separation from our loved ones fighting on the continent.

During the four years of commemoration and remembrance we are determined to ensure that all memorials, whether civic, church, school or private are recorded and the people honoured are researched.
